It’s hard to believe it’s been almost 2 weeks since the PASS Summit! We spent 4 nights singing our hearts out, and had very little voice left by the end of the week to prove it!
We went to Bush Garden Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday nights. Wow! That’s a lot of singing! Random animals made dancing appearances during songs (in the form of masks)… I sang Spiderwebs and Material Girl, two of my old standbys. Jason S.(@StrateSQL), Josh (@joshuafennessy), Colin (@ColinStasiuk), Amanda (@rottengeek), Mickey (@SQLMickey), and Jason H. (@jasonhorner) were among the “regulars” we were out with each night. I know there were others that were out every night too. Feel free to leave a comment with your info at the bottom if you were.
Wednesday night, we got to double the karaoke! The night started at the Hard Rock Cafe, at the #SQLKaraoke party sponsored by Pragmatic Works. This was one of the highlights of the week for me, because I got to sing with a live band!! You really feel like a rock star when you’ve got a band backing you up. It was also the first time I sang in front of a couple hundred or so people! It’s not as intimidating as singing in front of a smaller, typical karaoke audience. I’m not sure why that is?!? The Hard Rock was a great location for this too, as there is a gorgeous roof top with lots of patio space, couches, bonfires, etc. There were over 600 people there, but they were pretty spread out, so it wasn’t as crowded as it could have been.
After the Hard Rock, we headed back over to Bush Garden for another sponsored #sqlkaraoke night! Thank you to Denny Cherry (@mrdenny) for getting Idera to sponsor that one again this year! When we first got there, it wasn’t much busier than an ordinary night at karaoke. It didn’t take long before all the Bush Garden Die Hards showed up and filled the place! We had a great time singing the night away!
I’m sure you will see many new posts and videos coming out of this year’s week of karaoke. We hope those of you who joined us had a blast, and those that didn’t, will join us in the future.
