Myths About SQL Karaoke

on

As the PASS Summit approaches, we are already getting excited for SQL Karaoke! Interestingly, some of the talk on twitter leads me to believe that there are many crazy rumors out there about what happens on #SQLKaraoke night. I want to assure you, this is a night for EVERYONE (well, except for children).

Here’s what I hear people saying about Karaoke night:

“But, I can’t sing!”

Believe me, hardly anyone there actually “can sing.” It’s all about having fun. If you want to sing, you can. If you don’t want to, you should still come. You will be entertained. No one is there to judge anyone else. In fact, as you will see, the crazier you are, the better – on stage and off! 😀

“But, I don’t drink”

While some people do drink (and drink a lot) during SQL Karaoke night, not everyone does. It’s definitely ok to do what you are comfortable with! We just want people to come and enjoy themselves. Whether they choose to drink alcohol or not, it doesn’t matter.

It’s such a late night!

SQL Karaoke does tend to end pretty late in the evening, or should I say early in the morning? That said, no one is forcing anyone to stay super late. We like to think that you will be having so much fun, that you will want to stay late. If you are someone who likes to go to bed early so you are bright-eyed and bushy-tailed for the keynote in the morning, feel free to leave when you want. If you do decide to stay out late one night, remember: the PASS Summit is in Seattle, there is a Starbucks on every corner (literally).

I don’t know how to get there!

The great news is this: almost every night, there will be a group of people sharing large cabs (I’m talking vans full of people) to Bush Garden. The more people sharing the cab fare, the better. There are also groups of people who will walk there to and from together. We all welcome anyone into the group, as we certainly don’t want anyone walking alone. It’s only about 3 miles away, but not all the neighborhoods are the greatest, especially not in the middle of the night. We never let anyone leave alone.

All in all, SQL Karaoke night (official and non) is a great time to hang out with a bunch of fun-loving Geeks. You should plan to check it out!

Everything in this post is true! We don’t make anyone sing (more turns for those of us who do want to sing) and we love an audience. Drinking is optional. I am not a drinker, and really do not like to sing if I have been drinking.

Thanks Sisro,I managed to figrue out the URL for the payment after working through the filenames in the store folder. The documentation was a little unclear and didn’t specify the form name, hence the reason for my posting.Thanks.[]
