Interview with Jes Borland

As we’ve mentioned here before, SQL Karaoke is a great place to meet up with people in the SQL Server community.  This week, we are meeting Jes Borland (Blog | @grrl_geek) – one of the most energetic bundles of SQL spirit that we have in the community.  Here you folks go with Jes’s answers to our SQK Karaoke interview…

Who are you? I’m grrl_geek – a SQL Server consultant, a runner, and a geek.

When did you first SQLKaraoke? I still remember – SQL Saturday 31, Chicago 2010. It was with you (Blog | @StrateSQL), Sarah Strate (Blog | @DanceM0m), Wendy Pastrick (Blog @wendy_dance), Christina Leo (Blog | @christinaleo), and Tim Ford (Blog | @sqlagentman). What a fun night!

What is your favorite SQLKaraoke song? I’m partial to Star Wars Cantina, as performed by Mark V. He rocks that.

What is your favorite SQLKaraoke singer?Oh. This is like asking me to pick a favorite author. The most original lyrics go to Mark Vaillancourt (Blog | @markvsql).  Best performances go to Jason Strate.

Do you SQLKaraoke? I do! I prefer duets.

What was the best SQL Karaoke moment that you’ve experienced? The men of SQL Saturday 67, Chicago 2011, singing “Macho Man”. Hilarious.

What are you thinking right “meow”? My birthday is this weekend. Can I get a #sqlkaraoke rendition of Happy Birthday sung to me?

Anything you want to add? This year, in Seattle, I may take a nap after dinner so I make #sqlkaraoke each night. b
